UEFA Women’s U17 Championship May 14–26 in Tallinn, Tartu and Võru
In the spring of 2023, Estonia hosted a major event for girls’ football: the European champion of the Under-17 age group was determined at the final tournament held here. The final tournament officially kicked off on May 14, when the first group matches were be held. The tournament culminated in the final match on May 26, where France was crowned European champion on the national stadium of Estonia.
After Round 2 of qualifying that took place in spring, eight teams progressed to the final tournament in Estonia: England, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and among them the host Estonia.

The group matches were divided between two centers. Group A played matches in the North Estonia center at Lilleküla Stadium and Kadrioru Stadium. In Group B, the matches were held in the South Estonia center at Tartu Tamme Stadium and Võru Stadium. Estonia was placed in Group A. All matches of the final tournament were broadcasted live.
It was the first time the Estonian FA has staged, or taken part in, a UEFA women’s final tournament. In the past, other major competitions have been held in Estonia: the final tournament of the UEFA Under-19 Championship (2012), Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal (2015) and the UEFA Super Cup final (2018). In 2020, the final tournament of the UEFA Under-17 Championship was supposed to take place in Estonia, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
