Rakvere
Rakvere is the centre of the beautiful Lääne-Viru County, with a population of around 15,000. The town is rich in history, greenery and culture, and its compact layout makes Rakvere easy and enjoyable to explore.
One of Rakvere’s main landmarks is the impressive medieval castle on Vallimägi Hill, offering both a strong sense of history and great views over the town. Within walking distance, visitors will find a theatre, museums, cosy cafés and other local attractions. Rakvere is also the hometown of world-renowned composer Arvo Pärt, and in January this year, the Ukuaru Music House, dedicated to his legacy, was opened.
Rakvere is easy to reach and is located on the main route between Tallinn and Narva. Travelling from Tallinn takes around 1–1.5 hours by train, bus or car. Thanks to its compact size, getting around town is simple, and most key locations – including Rakvere Stadium and hotels – are close to each other.
