Estonian FA organizes a free course for female coaches
In light of the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship taking place in Estonia, future female coaches will be able to complete the EJL D course free of charge in April, during which they will acquire the basic knowledge of the coaching profession.
The course is a part of the legacy project of the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship taking place in Estonia this year. As one of the major goals of the legacy project is to recruit and train new female coaches, the EJL D course aimed at women is one of the activities planned to fulfill the goal.
During the five-day course, future female coaches will gain initial knowledge of the coaching profession and the specifics of children’s football. The course starts in mid-April and is free for all participants.
“The EJL D course is essentially the beginning of a coach’s journey,” explained Jan Harend, head of the education department of the Estonian Football Association. “The final tournament shifts the focus to women’s football, and within this, a course for future coaches that is aimed at women could encourage even more women to think about the coaching profession,” added Harend.
The EJL D training is conducted by Kärt Mere and Silja Goroško, who also participated in the educator’s course organized by the Estonian FA during the month of February. According to Mere, training new female coaches is important in order to create an even stronger ground for the development of girls’ football. “By launching the free course, we support the development of an even greater interest in football among girls, which in turn is important for the development of women’s football,” said Mere.
In order to increase the number of female coaches and raise their qualifications, this year, in addition to the EJL D course, female coaches can also participate in the UEFA C and UEFA B courses for free. Additional information about the content of the courses can be found on the website of the Estonian FA.
